When a teenage Jason Reeves discovered Bob Dylan and James Taylor, it stirred a new passion in him.

He began songwriting, combining the classic singer/songwriter style with modern influences like Radiohead and Sufjan Stevens.

After dropping out of college, he moved around, eventually landing in California.

One of the first people he met there was future pop star Colbie Caillat.

The two hit it off immediately and it didn’t take long for their friendship to turn into a songwriting partnership that would create the foundation for Caillat’s debut album Coco (including the hits “Bubbly” and “Realize”).

The songs that weren’t reserved for Coco ended up on Reeves’ EP Hearts Are Magnets, which was released in 2006 on the Dancing Squirrel label. 2007’s critically acclaimed Magnificent Adventures of Heartache helped Reeves ink a deal with Warner the following year.

He is currently in High Dive Heart with Nelly Joy!

Nelly Joy was born in Abilene, Texas and was raised in Chesterfield, Virginia and Amarillo, Texas.

She literally “fell into music” at the age of 17 when she broke her wrist in a pole-vaulting accident and had to take a break from all of her athletic endeavors.

During recovery, she learned how to play guitar and immediately fell in love with writing.

Two years later she won the “Got Milk” songwriting contest!

After graduating from ACU with her degree in Psychology, Nelly moved to Nashville in January of 2005 to chase her songwriting dream.

She became known as one half of the country duo, the JaneDear Girls. Nelly co-wrote 10 songs on the JaneDear Girls’ first album that debuted at 10 on the Billboard Top Country Charts.

She also co-wrote the ABC promo song “Good Girls Gone Bad” for the new TV show G.C.B.

The ACM and CMT nominated duo opened for Jason Aldean, Brad Paisley, Blake Shelton and also played on Jimmy Kimmel, CMA Fest, and the CMT Awards.

Nelly is now a writer with Sony ATV and cowrote “That’s Why I Pray” by Big & Rich, (Highest debut by a duo in the Nielsen BDS era, at No. 24 with the Hot Shot Debut), as well as “The Sun Will Rise” by Kelly Clarkson (Which became the promo song for ABC TV show “Bunheads”).

She also wrote five songs on Jason Reeves’ album “The Lovesick” which debuted at #5 on iTunes’ pop charts, including “No Lies” which is a duet featuring Colbie Caillat.

Nelly Joy and Jason Reeves are High Dive Heart!

High Dive Heart

High Dive Heart arrives with its EP Sonic Graffiti, released July 17 on independent abeautifularmyoftrees.

The pair consists of Jason Reeves — who has written with Colbie Caillat — and Nelly Joy, formerly half of the JaneDear Girls, which hit No. 10 on Top Country Albums in 2011 with their eponymous debut.

High Dive Heart’s melodic single “Vintage” was produced and co-written by Nashville vet Nathan Chapman. –Gary Trust (@gthot20)

All this can only give you a taste of what these two powerhouses are capable of. While they have strong roots in Nashville’s Music Scene, their message, and more importantly their HEART transcends that into a number of genres and audiences, yet distinctly remains the best of what is becoming defined as 21st Century Americana.

Here’s their story, their videos via the links provided-even lyrics and links to their other Social Pages. America, they’re our new friends next door.

So, invite them in, already.

I love you
More today than I did yesterday
And I will love you
More tomorrow than I do today

You’re timeless like an old stack of vinyl
Hundred year old bottle of wine-o
Love the classics but what do I know?
You’re the pair of Chucks I never wanna take off
The beat the DJ can’t help but drop
Your Mona Lisa makes my heart stop

You can call me old school but I like
Playing records I can hold in my hand
You can call me old fashioned if you wanna
But I wanna take you out to dance
Little baby

I love you
More today than I did yesterday
And I will love you
More tomorrow than I do today

(Wait for it, wait for it, 1, 2, 3, 4..)
You’re like Don Draper’s Cadillac
A Hendrix solo through a Marshall stack
A polaroid nude white & black
I want a vintage love that’s never out of style
Like a kiss I can feel forever

You can call me old school but I like
To read a book that I can hold in my hand
You can call me old fashioned but I like
To hear my music on that FM band
Little baby

I love you
More today than I did yesterday
And I will love you
More tomorrow than I do today

And what about tomorrow?
It’ll take care of itself
What if it all goes to hell??
At least you won’t be by yourself
